Online Writing Therapy


You can write to me any time – day or night – whenever you need it most. This is one of the advantages of online writing therapy. Using an online writing therapy, you can let me know what’s going on in your life and about the changes that you want to see. Tell me about your hopes, dreams, and your struggles. Anything you like. I’ll write back to you within 3 business days at the most (often sooner).

My role is as your support: a compassionate, non-judgemental ear to bear witness to your story, your experiences. Think of me as a partner who works towards the change you want in your life. I may have ideas, suggestions or resources to share with you, perhaps some new perspectives, new information. If you’re interested, I can share some exercises for you to go through on your own – or to work through with me. You, though are ultimately the expert in your life. So, together, as we write back and forth, we can brainstorm and talk about the things that are most important to you and your life – and how to begin creating the change you’re dreaming of.

If you’ve had counselling, you may have had the experience of getting to the end of the session before the most important things come up and walking out thinking, “oh, I wish I’d talked about that instead”. But with writing therapy, you have the opportunity to reflect and think things through, to get to the heart of what’s most important to you, and go back and edit as much as you wish.

You can take your time, re-write, and keep a written record of your sessions. Sometimes, you might find it helpful to draft a message to me, but save it instead of sending right away. Sit on it for a couple of days, give yourself time to reflect, edit, re-write. Many people find this a helpful part of the process, something you can’t do in face-to-face counselling. Another benefit of writing therapy is that you get to keep transcripts of all your sessions, and this can be valuable to look back on; remember important insights when similar troubles come up again. You may even notice things you hadn’t noticed the first time or be reminded of the encouragement and support gained from an earlier session. You’re free write to me whenever you wish, without having to schedule and commit to appointments.

Sessions: Online Writing Therapy


There is no cost for occasional short messages for clarification or quick questions.

The regular fee for each one-hour written therapy response from me is 120 $CAN. If you’d like a shorter response request the ½ hour response (at 60 $CAN) There’s no “appointment”, there are no late cancellation fees, transportation or parking costs.

To get the most out of each email-like writing “session”, you might find it helpful to draft a message to me, but save it instead of sending right away. Sit on it for a couple of days, give yourself time to reflect, edit, add more thoughts. Many people find this a helpful and therapeutic part of the process, something you can’t do in face-to-face counselling. Write me whenever you feel like it—day or night.

To evaluate the fees for email-like written counselling “sessions”, you might find it helpful to understand a bit more about the process. When your message is complete, click Send. With the information you’ve chosen to share with me, I will respond thoughtfully and fully, within 1 to 3 days (often sooner, though I always like to sleep on it at least once, as I often think of additional things I’d like to add).

Through this process, our work together may include brainstorming, exploring new perspectives or skills, clarifying values, dreams, opportunities, strengths and resources and, perhaps most importantly, support for you to begin healing and/or creating the life changes you’re longing for. Together, we will focus on what’s important to you.
